Private Treaty Bulls for Sale

We have selected 40 yearling bulls and 20 two-year old bulls ready to go to work for you. This number has been culled down from nearly 80 each year--so we are not trying to keep every bull calf on the ranch. I only keep the ones that are worthy of offering to you as breeding stock. Numbers are not the most important to me--quality is! In addition, they are not fed to get them fat--our goal is to raise them right so that they reach good size, but protecting their feet and legs. They will not fall apart when you send them to grass, like so many of the fat bulls will do.
This year, you will notice that I have a Certified Angus Beef logo by the data on some of the specific bulls. That is actually a Targeting The Brand logo that identifies bulls that are better than the average Angus bull in two key traits that help predict the ability of their calves to meet the CAB specifications at slaughter: Marbling and $Grid Value. This will be of particular interest to people who retain ownership of their calves through the feedyard, but also to supply to buyers of your calves at weaning. You can find more information at CABcattle.com website.

According to the CAB information, only 30% of the bulls currently available for sale across the nation will meet those specifications, but at Blythe Family Farms, we have nearly 50% of our sale offering that meet or exceed the Targeting the Brand specs. We have been paying attention to carcass information for many years and have been breeding for superior carcass, as evidenced by the CAB acceptance rate of our own cattle on feed. Carcass is not the only thing to look at, of course, and along with the typical EPDs, you will notice a new $Value for $Maternal Weaned Calf Value. It takes into account the calving ease direct, calving ease maternal, weaning weight, milk, heifer pregnancy, docility, mature cow weight, claw set and foot angle. For more information about any of the EPDs you can check out: http://www.angus.org/Nce/Definitions.aspx
As always, the registration number is listed on the spreadsheet for each bull, and you can go to Angus.org and enter in that number for all the EPDs and full complete pedigree on that bull. We were honored to have a Certified Angus Beef logo painted on our 117-year old barn in 2018. It signifies a commitment to helping our customers by providing relevant information, as well as working to identify the traits that you need to make sure your calves top the market!
As always, I enjoy walking through the bulls with you and working to find the ones who meet your needs the best. Come select your bull as soon as you can, as the number of calls I have received for bulls has definitely gone up each year.
If you would like to discuss your bull needs, just call or email. We enjoy visiting with other producers and look forward to being able to do that even more by marketing private treaty.
